Intermediate Level Science Review (Spanish Edition), is an exact duplicate of the English edition, designed for Spanish speaking students. This review book is specifically correlated to the NYS Intermediate-Level Science Core Curriculum, and provides a concise review of the core concepts needed to be understood if a student is to be successful on the New York State Grade 8 Intermediate-Level Science Test.

The thirteen chapters cover the topics of Standard 4 Science: The Living Environment and The physical Setting. Each chapter includes the Process Skills of Standards 1, 2, 4, 6, and 7. Work on a single chapter could be completed in two to three days. This allows for a month's review prior to the time that the written portion of the Intermediate-Level Science Test is administered in June. Each chapter is divided into subtopics. Each subtopic includes a discussion of the relevant core concepts followed by a series of short questions and problems related to the reading material. These questions are designed to check for understanding. The text is also accompanied by numerous diagrams and charts. Also new this year we have included a thirteenth chapter which reviews general science skills. Chapter 13 was written mainly to use for reviewing skills needed for the performance test. Included in this chapter are some of the math skills as well as parallel tasks to those the students will be expected to use on the performance test.

At the end of each chapter there is a list of vocabulary words from the Core Curriculum, as well as words which support the Core. Throughout the text, the vocabulary words are boldfaced. A glossary is included at the end of the book. Each chapter concludes with multiple choice and extended response questions, which model those appearing on the Intermediate-Level Science Test. This chapter review involves the application of concepts, reading comprehension, graphing, experimental design, and analysis. The New York State Intermediate Science Test Sampler as well as two additional practice exams are included at the end of the book.

Since the Intermediate-Level Science Test covers material from grades 5 through 8, reviewing for the examination is admittedly a daunting task. We are convinced that you will find this book an excellent review at the end of eighth grade, and that it will make the weeks preceding the test highly focused as well as manageable.
